Bhairav, the most distinctive tantric and terrible form of Lord Shiva, has a number of different forms. He is nude, black or dark blue in color and sometimes painted white in paintings. With a colossal head having fiery rolling eyes, unruly hair and crown of human skulls, he has many arms holding weapons, skull-cup and a wand with 3 skulls. He may wear sandals and is often standing on a recumbent position. It is believed that Bhairav is connected to the southern face and relates to the Mahavidya goddess named Bhairavi who gives lagna shuddhi (purification of the disciple) that purifies and protects the body, self concept, personality, and other attributes associated with the disciple.
We offer an exclusive collection of Bhairab statues as well as Bhairab masks.
